Our brief was to re-evauate the contemporary model of a church building and its activities for a dynamic Church spread across the Bay Area with multiple locations. We aproached the typology as an ecosystem of diverse activities rather than a singular pupose building limited to a Sunday Service.
Our approach was to remove the enclosed entry/spine of the existing facilities and lift the built form to reveal internal activites, creating a transparent internal ‘street’ from which an array of businesses, community services, stores and ministies can branch off from. The result would be a strategy from which a vibrant community could grow and exist mid-week as well as for Sunday services.
